The Need for Neon
April 24, 2012

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that there’s been a serious sartorial resurgence of neon. If you’re afraid, we get it. We all remember the 90s, and no matter how big a fan of Lisa Frank you might have been, most of us would prefer not to go back…via our closets at least.
But we assure you, this neon–let’s call it new neon–is different–really! Instead of parachute pants and cropped tops, new neon splashes across sophisticated shapes like skinny patent belts cinching a smart blazer, sleek pumps and (possibly to most effect) chic little handbags.

Add a neon crossbody to an otherwise neutral or snoozy look and–voila!–you’re updated for the season sans looking like a New Kids on the Block groupie.
Our best recommendation? One of these Rebecca Minkoff stunners ($195-$250) that arrived today at Chrome in Lubbock.

Black & Tan
April 19, 2012

There was a time when wouldn’t have dreamed of pairing black with any version of brown, but those days are long gone. In fact, black-and-brown and black-and-navy are now some of our favorite color combos. Case in point: this adorbs high-low tunic spotted at Beaumont Best Store Gaudie & Co. It’s perfect for pairing with our favorite seasonless bottom: the jegging.
Neon Sunset
April 18, 2012

That’s what came to mind as soon as we spotted this flirty little number at Ella + Scott in Beaumont! Don’t you just die for the neon-ness combined with the ombre effect on the skirt? Word on the street is that there’s a lone size medium left in-store, and it’s just $42, so hurry in!
Pretty as a Python
April 16, 2012

Our hearts skipped a beat when we spotted these turquoise Alice+Olivia python-embossed wedges at Plano Best Store Blinc. As soon as we laid eyes on them, we were already mentally rolodexing the myriad ways we’ll wear them this spring and summer: under extra-long maxi dresses, with sassy shorts and blouses…heck, around the house with our bathrobes! At ~$250, they’re not exactly cheap, but by August, you’ll surely have whittled your price-per-wear down to mere pennies.
Arm Candy
March 27, 2012

A wrist full of bracelets is one of the most irresistible trends of the moment. We like to call them arm parties–no fewer than three are acceptable, and we’ve yet to discover a maximum. Lately we’ve been piling on as many as seven in all different fabrications and widths, from friendship-style woven versions to more polished metal styles.
There truly are no rules when it comes to arm parties, and these beauties at Chrome will make a welcome addition to yours.
Mint Condition
March 20, 2012

Tangerine Tango is Pantone’s 2012 Color of the Year, but it seems that mint green is giving the fiery orange hue a run for its money this spring. For the first time in a long time, neon brights and sugary pastels are equally popular, and we love pairing the two together (too many pastels in one look and you run the risk of Easter egg comparisons).

Which is why these mint green skinnies from Anniegogglyn in San Antontio will be the perfect foil to our neon tees, blouses and accessories this season. They’ve already sold out once–don’t miss ‘em again.
Shine on at Merge
February 28, 2012

There’s always room for a little more shine in our jewelry boxes, especially when it comes in the form of delicate pendant and charm necklaces a la Kris Nations. If they look familiar, it’s because they’ve been featured in every publication from People StyleWatch to InStyle to Marie Claire.

College Station Best Store Merge has the Texas and Zodiac pendants in store (in both silver and gold), and they can now order any of the other Kris Nations charms for you as well. At just $48 a pop, how can you resist?
Bonus: These babies are made from recycled metal, so you’re reducing your carbon footprint while upping your style quotient.
Hello, Spring
February 13, 2012

If this Rag & Bone sandal doesn’t make you yearn for spring, well, then something’s wrong with you. With a 4.5″ heel, it offers plenty of height, but the 2″ platform makes for serious comfort. And who can resist that turquoise piping? Find them at Penny Lane in San Antonio.
Bum[ble] Bee
February 7, 2012

You’ve heard of a bee in your bonnet, but a bee on your bum?
One of our fave Waco spots–Bloom & Bee Swanky–has created its own line of signature boy-short undies (just in time for Valentine’s Day, we might add), complete with a bee on one side and the word “swanky” on the other, creating the store’s signature catchphrase, “Bee Swanky.”
Love it.
The Equipment You’ll Need this Spring
January 27, 2012

The silk button-down by Equipment has become a ubiquitous cool-girl wardrobe staple. It goes with…well, everything–leather leggings, jeggings, skinnys, cut-offs, a pencil skirt…you get the idea.
So you can imagine our excitement when we stumbled upon the updated-for-spring striped version of the must-have blouse at By George in Austin. The navy-and-green color combo is so fresh, yet somehow we felt we’d seen it somewhere before…
Ah yes, on one of our favorite personal style blogs, Atlantic-Pacific. Check out how she styled hers:

Like we said, the styling options are truly endless.
