Fort Worth has a rare opportunity to view the second largest display of Caravaggio’s paintings in North America—and only the third ever Caravaggio exhibit to be held in the United States—with Caravaggio and His Followers in Rome currently at The Kimbell Art Museum.

Caravaggio was a highly influential painter, blatantly ignoring the conventions of his time.  The resulting work produced radically natural paintings dramatized by Caravaggio’s use of intense shadows.  It is this style that was highly reproduced by his artistic peers of the 16^th century and resulted in the emergence of The Baroque Period. Normally, one would have to travel far and wide (read: Europe) to get a glimpse at all of the paintings in this exhibit, but The Kimbell has made it possible for us to view Caravaggio’s timeless work right here in Fort Worth.

Santa’s Wonderland

It’s officially December, which means Christmas time is here. The lights are being hung and Christmas music is on repeat everywhere—‘tis the season! While the weather’s still bearable, it’s a great time for you and your friends to enjoy a true Texas Christmas experience at Santa’s Wonderland. The Wonderland is just off of Highway 6, only a few miles south of the A&M campus. You can’t miss the park—every inch is brightly lit with Christmas lights, which you can tour by car, carriage ride or hayride accompanied by live music. Be sure to stop by Santa’s Town to catch classic Christmas films on the giant outdoor movie screen and sip on “elf cider.”  If you’re not in the Christmas spirit yet, one visit to Santa’s Wonderland will get you headed in the right direction in no time.
