Texas gals know their statement jewelry, so we’re more than on top the resurgence of statement necklaces. These bold baubles are a great way to add color to an ordinary outfit. Wear it over a buttoned up collar to be on the forefront of this trend. We can’t get enough of this look, and are spying it all over campus! Fashion tip: pair a statement necklace with an otherwise minimal look to avoid looking too be-jeweled; we’ll leave that to Lady Gaga. Here are a few options from one of our favorite Texans, Kendra Scott:

Lawrence’s
May 2, 2012
-tcu,

With Mother’s Day and graduation right around the corner, you’re going to have to start searching for gifts now to avoid sending your mom a “creative” handmade gift for the second year in a row. We recommend starting your search with Lawrence’s, across the parking lot from Central Market. Some familiar designers include Jon Hart, Vera Bradley, Stephanie Ann, Christopher Radko, Lollia and Kendra Scott.
Lawrence’s also recently started carrying Zoubaby rain boots. Not only will these babies be much-needed in the upcoming onslaught of spring showers, but you can personalize each pair with an embroidered monogram!

What is spring and summer’s favorite shoe? The woven sole of an espadrille, of course! Hands-down this is the shoe that everyone is wearing because it has the best of both worlds. Not only does the height make any leg look fabulous, but the wedge heel means you can wear them all day long. The espadrille can be worn in any color, pattern, and fabric and has the ability to be worn day or night. Here are our woven favorites:
1. Jack Rogers Platinum Leather Espadrille
2. J. Crew Sardinia Espadrille
3. Guess Dailona Leather Sandal
4. Tory Burch Stripe Wedge
5. Lucky Brand Ridgeview Espadrille
6. Verona Coral Espadrilles

Charming Accessories
April 16, 2012
-am,

White t-shirt? Pretty boring. White t-shirt plus shiny baubles? Fabulous! The only problem is that when given the choice between spending $40 on a new blouse or $40 on a necklace, we’ll always choose the blouse. That’s why Charming Charlie, on the corner of Texas and George Bush just next to campus, is our go-to spot for last minute accessories. The store has a piece of jewelry for every occasion—literally—and has a convenient color-coded set up. Make sure you have a leave a good chunk of time to browse this store, because with prices so “charming,” you’ll need it.

Denim Daze
April 13, 2012
-baylor,

Light denim isn’t just for the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air anymore. Not that we weren’t crazy about the acid wash look back in the day, but let’s be honest: we were ten. The familiar fabric is popping up in new and interesting ways in the form of jackets, shirts and vests. Mix and match your denim or pair it with pops of animal print for a surefire standout look. We’ve been spotting this trend all over campus, and we haven’t seen a bad combo yet! Stock up on denim at Spice Village and Roots in Waco.
Adorable Antiques
April 10, 2012
-tcu,

If you plan on stopping by Montgomery Street Antique Mall—and we recommend doing so—go ahead and allot yourself a couple of hours to browse. The stunning selection of antique and vintage jewelry—not to mention a to-die-for collection of turquoise—immediately draws you in, but the endless rows of antique treasures and quirky finds keep you lingering for hours on end. You can spend anywhere from $10 to a couple of thousand on vintage store signs, old lamps, rare books and antique furniture dating back to the 1800s. Let’s be honest, you probably don’t have ten grand to drop on a dresser, but we can never resist pretending like we’re shopping for our non-existent summer estate in the Hamptons. Stop in during the next couple of days and get 20% off your next purchase!
