Bridgette Gets a Shoe Closet
April 24, 2012

Q: What makes a Best Store even better?
A: Adding a massive new shoe department!
That’s exactly what Bridgette’s in Tyler did, with the opening of its adjacent shoe store called Bridgette’s Shoe Collection (nestled right between Bridgette’s and Harley’s). The new addition currently features 120 different pairs of shoes that highlight every spring trend you can imagine, from colorblocking to ankle straps to espadrilles. Such a glorious new way to feed our addiction…
Fiesta Frocks on Parade at Meadow
April 10, 2012

Because Fiesta starts in just nine short days–and you’ll obviously need a new look for the occasion, San Antonio Best Store Meadow is throwing a Margaritas & Fiesta Frocks celebration tomorrow evening from 4:30 – 7:30pm.
Expect cocktails (which always seem to loosen our purse strings) and giveaways, plus a warm mushy feeling, because 10% of all sales from the evening will go to Respite Care for San Antonio.

Lucky No. 4: H&M Opens at Galleria Dallas this Thursday
March 19, 2012

When H&M does something, they do it all the way. In just five months, the fast-fashion giant has entered the Texas market and is about to open its fourth location in North Texas. This Thursday, the barricades will come down at Galleria Dallas at noon, and the first 200 shoppers in line will receive a free t-shirt and a “fashion pass” (read: a gift card worth anywhere from $10 – $300). This location will be a “full concept” store, which we can only hope means it will carry the designer collaborations that are coming down the pipeline.
Urban Comes to Cowtown
February 17, 2012

This just in: Urban Outfitters is set to open its doors on Fort Worth’s super-happening 7th Street! Word on the street is that the retailer has leased a two-story space at the corner of Foch and W. 7th–a space currently occupied by Gavrel Furs. The furrier will move to a location on Camp Bowie in April or May, so we’ll have to wait at least that long until Urban opens. Stay tuned for more details…
Forty Five Ten Goes to the Five & Ten
February 13, 2012

Here we go again. The genius team behind Dallas’ renown Forty Five Ten has opened Five & Ten, a sort of “little sister” store to the McKinney Avenue outpost. This new gem has opened its doors in Highland Park Village and it already fits right in among the storied shopping center’s designer boutiques.

Expect the same lines at Five & Ten that you know and love from Forty Five Ten, like Lanvin and Proenza Schouler, but they’ve added J Brand’s new ready-to-wear line and Kelly Wearstler items, along with haute goodies for your pooch.

H&M Says Hello to Houston
February 2, 2012

Great news, Houstonians! H&M is continuing its Texas invasion with two–count them, two!–Houston locations set to open in 2012!
The first will open this spring at Baybrook Mall, and the second will open later in the year at Willowbrook Mall. Stay tuned for official grand opening dates and events…
Swap & Flea at The Gypsy Wagon
January 24, 2012

What’s that they say? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure? Ah, yes.
Never has the old adage been more true than at this Sunday’s first-ever Swap & Flea at Dallas’ The Gypsy Wagon. Here’s the deal: 20 vendors (including The Gypsy Wagon) will be set up in the parking lot behind the store, selling anything and everything they want to get rid of–this will range from merchandise to fixtures to…well, anything. It’s going to be six hours (11am – 5pm) of crazy-good bargains.
Bonus: You’re more than welcome to bring anything you want to get rid of as well! But, only good stuff please (think vintage, gently-used treasures)–after all, this is a classy affair.
Le Garage this Weekend
January 23, 2012

Ok, bargain-hunters, this one’s for you.
Austin’s Le Garage Sale returns this weekend! Get ready to shop all your favorite Austin- and Texas-based boutiques, all under one roof and all on sale.
The lineup includes Adelante, Bootleg, By George, C Jane, Maya Star (and sister store Co Star), Gallery D, Girl Next Door, Plain Ivey Jane…and so many more.
Note that there are no changing rooms at this event, so it’s definitely a good idea to sport a base layer of leggings and a cami so that you can throw things on over them.
Also, note that the location has changed and Le Garage is now taking place at the Austin Convention Center (not the Palmer Events Center). $10 at the door gets you all the bargain-hunting you can handle.
Saturday: 11am – 6pm
Sunday: noon – 5pm
