Sisters Amy and Jolie Sikes have developed a cult following revamping and repurposing vintage and antique finds across the state at their Round Top store, Junk Gypsy Company. So it only makes sense that the two would captivate HGTV audiences with a brand new series “Garage Sale Wars” that gives one family a chance to win $10,000 selling refurbished garage sale goods. Here’s the official rundown of the show, premiering tonight on HGTV at 8/7pm CST.

Two friendly neighbors with tons of stuff and die-hard competitive spirits go head to head in dueling garage sales. Experts Amie and Jolie Sikes give each family 48 hours to refurbish items, prep and price their “sales on steroids” underneath front yard circus tents. With crowds gathered around the block, the sales open at 8 a.m. sharp. The family with the highest earnings at noon wins the garage sale war and a $10k prize.

It’s time to dust off those walking shoes in time for Fredericksburg Trade Days this Friday through Sunday at Sunday Farms.  Over 350 vendors will be spread among six barns spanning over six acres.  It’ll be no small feat to visit each barn, but you’ll have plenty of time to rest between shopping stops in the Biergarten with live music and over 50 different kinds of beer.

The crafty people at IndieGenius in Dallas’ burgeoning Bishop Arts District are hosting the October Urban Street Bazaar in their front parking lot this Saturday and Sunday.  Only vendors offering locally handmade and vintage goods are allowed to participate, so shop easy knowing you’re supporting local talent.  Four of our Best Restaurants in Dallas are also in the area—Eno’s, Tillman’s Roadhouse, Bolsa and Lockhart Smokehouse—so you can round out your day with a full shopping bag and a full belly.

Our favorite upscale flea market—an oxymoron, we know—is back in Dallas this Saturday at Southside on Lamar.  For only $5—parking is free—you can shop everything from clothing and furniture to original artwork and handmade creations at The Dallas Flea. The shindig kicks off at 9am and vendors will be selling until 4pm, but we recommend arriving early for the best selection.

If you’ll be around Austin this Labor Day Weekend, make sure you spare a day or two to do some serious scavenging at the City Wide Garage Sale happening Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 11am-5pm at the Palmer Events Center.  Not only are we psyched that we get to treasure hunt in the a/c—it’s still hot out, can you blame us?—but we know we’ll find more than a few finds to take home with us. Vendors from all over the state will be on hand with estate jewelry, vintage goods, art glass and antiques!

After months of renovations, we cannot wait to peek inside the new-and-improved location of College Station Best Northgate Vintage.  The store is under new ownership and will reopen on September 6.  We think we’ll like the updated version of the store just fine, as they are still letting us pre-order TOMS via email at northgatevintagecs@gmail.com.  They know us so well!
